Episkopio is a mountainous village, 5 kilometers from Hermoupolis. At the 15th century the church of the village, Assumption of the Virgin, was the episcopacy of the Catholics. Right next to it was the Archbishop’s house, from which the village got its name.
The 19th century was one of the favorite places of residence of the wealthy island. This is the main reason that crossing the village you will meet great neoclassical houses with magnificent gardens and pine trees.
The combination of neoclassical houses and the beautiful landscape creates an enchanting atmosphere. Best time to visit Episkopio is in the morning or the afternoon, so you can enjoy walking under the shadow of the pine trees.
