Vari is one of the oldest and biggest villages of Syros. It is located at the southeastern side of the island, 9 kilometers from Hermoupolis. Roman tombs and remains of a prehistoric settlement (4000-3000 B.C.) were discovered here. At the cove of the village, very close to the sea, stands a castle, that belongs to Goulandris family and creates a strangely beautiful atmosphere on the beach.
Vari’s beach is not very big, but the water is clear blue and the restaurants and hotels are literally built on the sand.
During the summer many cultural, art and sport events take place.
